As one of the key components of Elder Connection, Home Safe Home provides assessments and minor modifications that can help people “age in place” in their own homes – independent, safe, and satisfied.

Volunteering has extra perks!
Volunteering not only helps people in your own neighborhood live healthier lives, it’s good for you, too!  Study after study shows that people who volunteer – especially active retirees – are less prone to depression, have lower rates of heart disease, and actually live longer than those who don’t.   Stay young, stay involved, stay connected to the industry that you’ve loved all your life.

In addition to folks who can help with Rebuilding Together and Home Safe Home projects, we’re also looking for people with a few hours a month who could provide the following assistance to their neighbors:
  • Telephone Reassurance – a friendly phone call can make a big difference in someone’s life. 
  • Become a phone buddy!
  • Friendly Visiting – being able to count on a regular visit from someone in their community provides a big boost for people who can’t get around as easily as they used to.  Once a month or once a week, we’ll match you with someone nearby who’d love to share a cup of tea and a nice chat or maybe catch an afternoon movie.
  • Grocery Shopping Assistance – some people just need a little help carrying bags and unpacking them when they get home; some could use a hand doing the actual shopping, whether it’s in the store or ordering on line.  You’ve got to do your own shopping anyway.  Why not take along a neighborhood pal who loves fresh produce as much as you do!
