MPTF health centers suggest you review these symptoms and information about swine flu.

1. Signs and Symptoms of Swine Influenza:

Fever (100 degrees orally or 101 degrees rectally), cough, myalgias (body aches) and sore throat. The symptoms are similar to those of typical flu. Some patients with swine flu also experience vomiting and diarrhea but this is mainly a RESPIRATORY illness.A suspected case of swine influenza A(H1N1) virus infection is defined as a person with acute febrile respiratory illness(as defined above) with onset:

  1. within 7 days of close contact with a person who is a confirmed case of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection, or
  2. within 7 days of travel to community either within the United States or internationally where there are one or more confirmed swine influenza A (H1N1) cases, or
  3. residence in a community where there are one or more confirmed influenza cases.

2. Areas where multiple cases have been reported are Mexico, Texas, New York and any of the following counties in California: Sacramento, San Diego, Imperial.

As of 5/4/09 there are 11 confirmed cases of swine flu in LA county.
