Michael Douglas & Friends Celebrity Golf Event
to be Telecast on NBC June 7
Celebrities hit the links to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund
WOODLAND HILLS, CA, May 12, 2008 – For the tenth year in a row, some of the biggest names in entertainment came out for the annual Michael Douglas & Friends celebrity golf event,
benefitting the Motion Picture & Television Fund. The event will be telecast on NBC on Saturday, June 7, 2:00-4:00 p.m. EDT.
The event, which took place February 10 at the historic Riviera Golf Club in Pacific Palisades, California, marked the tenth anniversary of what
has become one of the most well-known celebrity golf tournaments in the country.
Three celebrity teams, with four players each, played a nine-hole shotgun tournament. Each celebrity team was paired with a professional golf coach. The teams were as follows:
- Coach: Jim McLean; celebrity players: Alice Cooper, Martin Sheen, Emily Osment, Kyle MacLachlan.
- Coach: Dean Reinmuth; celebrity players: Michael Douglas, Heather Locklear, Kenny G and Dave Annable.
- Coach: Dana Rader; celebrity players: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Morgan Freeman, Haley-Joel Osment, Jack Wagner.
Event sponsors include Northern Trust, AARP and MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
The non-profit Motion Picture & Television Fund, headquartered in Woodland Hills, Calif., was founded in 1921 to provide “relief" for those in the film industry who had fallen on hard times.
