California Department of Public Health Affirms MPTF Conduct On Resident TransfersReverses previous finding and concludes complaints are “unsubstantiated”
WOODLAND HILLS, CA, August 27, 2010 – The California Department of Public Health reversed its previous statement of deficiency against the Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF), it was announced today by MPTF. The state’s Department of Public Health determined the claim that MPTF failed under the statute to provide a 30-Day Notice of Transfer to residents was “unsubstantiated.” “We feel strongly vindicated by the CDPH’s revised determination that the complaint about our process surrounding the transition of Long Term Care residents is unsubstantiated,” said Bob Beitcher, president and CEO of the Motion Picture & Television Fund. “It’s gratifying that the dispute resolution process worked and we were able to clear our name in this matter that had become a cause célèbre.” Bob Pisano, Chairman of the MPTF Board of Directors, commented on the news from the CDPH. “The rush to judgment on this matter has been simply wrong and, as it turns out, unnecessarily and unfortunately created a negative and potentially damaging impression. The conclusion drawn by many – that we lawlessly evicted our residents – is untrue on both counts. Even the family members who have opposed the closure have recently communicated their appreciation and respect to our staff. No one is benefiting from this continued negative attack on a charity that is committed to providing quality care and service to the entertainment community while finding financially viable solutions to the industry’s evolving health and social services needs.” ![]() | ||||
