"I realized that I wasn’t comfortable living in my house anymore,
and that was a scary feeling. I visited the Motion Picture Country Home
and while I was eligible, part of me just wasn’t ready to give up my
home. Understanding my situation, MPTF arranged to have someone come to
my home and assess what improvements could be made so that I could
continue to live there, comfortably and safely. On the designated day,
a whole team of people showed up and worked their magic. Electricians,
carpenters, you name it, they all showed up. And every last one of them
was volunteering their time. They completely replaced my front steps
and put in railings, which were rickety and eaten away by termites.
They installed safety bars in my bathroom, replaced the chandelier in
my dining room which had had some exposed wiring and upgraded the
lighting in my kitchen. I just can’t begin to explain how this all has
changed my life. Not just all the work that was done, but knowing that
there are people who care. I’m much more comfortable in my own home
now, and have the security of knowing that if I’m ever unable to
grocery shop for myself or need a ride somewhere, MPTF is just a phone
call away. And when I’m ready to move onto the next step, I know I’m
welcome at the Residential Community. It’s complete peace of mind. They
really do take care of their own."
