Recently, as part of our Lifelong Learning Program, we’ve been enjoying the tasty presentations of Chef Stu Drexler. First there was the delectable exploration of the many wonderful variations of chocolate. From Hershey bars to rich, bittersweet dark chocolate, Chef Stu explored the wide range of chocolates and their many – often surprising – uses. (Put a little in your next batch of chili to add a mysterious richness to the flavor!)
He continued last week with more sweet suggestions in his presentation about one of the most ancient of foods – honey. Again, the diversity of flavors, textures, and uses was astounding. And, of course, the tasting was delightful!
This week, on Tuesday, March 23rd, at 1:00pm, the Chef Stu’s final class will focus on apples. They weren’t always the luscious sweet fruit we consume today. Learn about the development of our favorite pie fillers, how to choose the best apples in season, and all the ways you can cook with and enjoy apples. You can join the class on campus via live-stream here on our website, and by downloading Chef Stu’s Apple Handouts, you can learn along with those in the classroom. We hope to see you there!
