Actress Nancy Kimberly talks with Joe Sutton in a clip from “Behind the Silver Screen.” Knowing she’s going to be featured on our website has inspired Nancy to take computer classes at the Fund so she can surf the web for herself!
I have been serving the Motion Picture & Television Fund for well over a decade now. I started out as a public relations consultant and still work in that capacity in an advisory way. I was connected with The Golden Boot Awards for many years, which raised a large amount of money for MPTF.
A little over eight years ago, Mel Shavelson appropriated a generous amount of money to create a TV channel for the MPTF campus and our residents. The channel went on the air about four years ago featuring programming for and about the residents. Since I had a background in radio with my Heart of Hollywood program, I was asked to conduct one-on-one personal interviews with our campus residents for the station, which is now our Channel 22.
I have conducted over 200 of these interviews under the wonderful production guidance of Station Manager and Executive Producer, Jennifer Clymer. Each and every one is priceless in its own way and they have become treasured articles, not only for our channel and the interviewees, but for their families and friends as well. The joy I get from each interview can only be explained in one way, I fall in love with each and every guest.
I have also become the voice of this Blog on the MPTF website because I love this organization – what it stands for and what it does for our Hollywood entertainment community (which I have been a part of for half a century.)
I am proud of what I do for the MPTF and the way in which I do it. It not only brings me pride, satisfaction, and comfort to know that I have been blessed with the good health and sense to be able to continue to serve the wonderful industry that has given me the most blessed life I could imagine for half a century. The Fund gives my life purpose, and that is what life is all about.
